Frequently Asked Questions

Finding the right support for your child can come with a lot of questions. Here are answers to some of the things families ask most often.

What ages do you work with?

I specialize in working with children and their families, with particular expertise in early childhood and elementary-aged children. Services are tailored to your child’s developmental stage and your family’s needs.

What concerns can you help with?

Families may seek support for anxiety, big feelings, behavior challenges, family changes, school stress, difficulty with routines, social or relationship concerns, and other emotional or developmental challenges.

You do not need to know exactly what is going on before reaching out. Part of our work together can be understanding what your child is communicating through their emotions and behavior.

What does therapy with children look like?

Children do not always process experiences by sitting and talking. Therapy may incorporate play, art, movement, games, conversation, skill-building, and connection.

Sessions are individualized based on your child’s age, personality, interests, and goals.

Are parents involved in therapy?

Yes. Parents and caregivers are important partners in the therapeutic process.

Depending on your child’s age and needs, this may include joining sessions, brief parent check-ins, parent coaching, family sessions, or separate caregiver consultations. We will decide together what level of involvement is most helpful.

Do you provide therapy in my home?

Yes. Papaveri Therapy offers home- and community-based services, allowing children and families to receive support in familiar, everyday environments.

Sessions may take place in your home or another appropriate community setting depending on your child’s needs and treatment goals.

Why would we choose home therapy?

For some children, working in their natural environment helps therapy feel more comfortable and makes it easier to practice skills where everyday challenges actually happen.

It can also reduce the stress of getting children to another appointment while giving me a better understanding of your family's real-life routines and strengths.

What areas do you serve?

In-person services are primarily available to families in San José and surrounding communities. Availability may vary depending on location and scheduling.

Contact me with your neighborhood or ZIP code and I can let you know whether you are within my current service area.

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes. Telehealth may be available for parent consultations, family support, and some individual therapy depending on age and clinical appropriateness.

How long will therapy last?

There is no predetermined length of treatment. Some families need focused, short-term support, while others benefit from longer-term therapy.

We will regularly review your child’s progress and adjust treatment as their needs change. The goal is to help them and their caregivers build skills and confidence that extend beyond our sessions.

How much does therapy cost?

The initial assessment is $275. After that, sessions are typically $180 for individual or family therapy, and $125 for parent coaching.

A limited number of sliding-scale spaces may be available. Options will be discussed before treatment begins.
